Kevin Nolan's financial value
Just wanted to guage response's on here. Got talking in the boozer Saturday and the discussion turned to what we would get for Nolan.

So if we sold him to a team fighting relegation or a Championship side pushing promotion (the two sets of sides that I believe would get most value from him) what do you reckon we could get for him?

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
I think we would better off looking to see if he would renegotiate his deal into a player coach one. A lot more value in that than anything we would get for him at this point.

That would assume he is even close to considering something like that which I have no idea.

As has been said, the deal we gave him was too long but he probably would not have come unless it was. And the windfall of promotion has probably paid for it anyway.

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
much as im not a fan of diame it shows that he was right in saying we played him out of position and really should have been playing in nolans role, I know we all feel it wont last but he looks a very good player in an average team at the moment

I think he's good to have around tbh
In fact wouldn't be upset to see him replace macca if he does pursue his goal to manage his own side

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
We got him in when we needed him so paid him the money . He is probably one of the reasons we got promoted so he was part of that success . Also promotion probably got a lot of money to make that transaction worth while .

Problem is I don't see many championship sides who have that type of money that would want him now .

QPR but they probably wont pay those wages even if he probalby could do what he did here for us when we were in championship and get the squad as one .

In the words of Borat... "not so much" :-)

Twilight of his career now as he will struggle at the top level due to his body shape and mobility. He will always be applauded by me for the work he did helping us get back up and staying there for the first 3 seasons of his 5 year deal. You can see why Newcastle only offered him 3 years :-(

29 goals in 114

Err yes One Rad. There's no way he should ever start another game for us is there, and if the right offer came from a desperate QPR we should take it. In truth, he'd probably want to go if the money was right and he wasn't playing for us.

Was a good sign8ng for us and still a good squad player to come off the bech

I think the stumbling block would be his wages .

Why on earth would anyone be stupid enough to sell the club captain, beer talk is usually nonsense.

Nolan will replace macca as coach when he leaves IMO

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
So, the player that, regardless of what you think of his ability, has helped galvanise the squad and change the attitude of the dressing room more than any other player, is now surplus to requirements because we've won a few games?

Do fuck off.

Sunk costs and Net Present Values... Yep.

Get rid... he is just a drain on our resources.

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
The key is the amount we still owe Nolan in future wages. If we wanted rid in January (which I think is very unlikely), we would basically try to get him to waive his right to the £3m+ wages he's owed in return or exchange for getting a lower or non-existent fee.

It's similar to the JC deal to join us, where he cost nothing and Liverpool still paid some of his wages. You could look at that as him being worth less than £0, but his worth was actually the difference between the wages owed by Liverpool, and the amount they were prepared to contribute to his contract to get him out of the club.

£2million max.

Could only really see QPR ever going after him though on those wages.

Calm down son. Nothing to do with saying we should sell him or destabilise the squad.

Just interested in what people might think we could get for him if we was to sell. The people I discussed it with had varying ideas and values so just asked the question.

I'd sell him and Carroll. There's no need for them any more.

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
Nolan would be great for a team like Burnley. If he is on 60k it would even be worth our while subsidising his wages to the tune of 15-20k to get him off the wage bill... would then at least free up 40k to pay Reid or another decent CB where we are lacking.

Jarza 5:24 Tue Oct 21
Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
Get rid.....pay some of his wages to Reid to bring him up to £75k (pocket the rest) - job done

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
Yes agree, at the time a good signing but as said the deal was at least a year too long.

Re: Kevin Nolan's financial value
His wages mean it's unlikely we'd get much for him.
